Legal Comment
In continuation of the campaign of suppression and targeting of opponents, the Security forces arrested Engineer Yahya Hussein Abdel Hadi after kidnapping him from Dr. Abdel Galil Mustafa’s car on Salah Salem Street. The Security forces then took him to the headquarters of the Supreme State Security Prosecution and investigated him in case No. 3916 of 2024 State Security. The charges were joining a terrorist group, abusing social media, broadcasting and spreading rumors, and false news, committing a crime of financing terrorism, and incitement to commit a terrorist crime, after confronting him with an article he published on Facebook entitled “How long will the army be silent?” On the anniversary of July 23, 1952.
The Supreme State Security Prosecution continued to rely on the investigation reports of the National Security Agency officers, and the Public Prosecution used these reports, which were devoid of any evidence, as a pretext for pretrial detention.
Those reports do not start legally but soon turns into a punishment of several years. In this context, 30 citizens appeared within the State Security Prosecution after their arrest from different governorates and were charged with the same charges, so the prosecution detained them for 15 days pending investigation.
