Legal Comment
Look like the phenomenon of religious and political reports vendettas is back. Reports by citizens with no status or interest against opponents or critics. Some citizens filed reports against activist and poet Ahmed Douma, accusing him of “contempt of religions” in his poetry collection “Curly”. Instead of the prosecution keeping the investigation closed due to lack of status and interest in terms of form, it proceeded, according to a statement by the prosecutor himself, to transfer the collection to Al-Azhar to express its opinion! This is a means not only to persecute creators and suppress freedom of expression, but also an indirect means to silence them through this arbitrary legal prosecution.
