Legal Comment
Cairo Criminal Court, Terrorism Chamber-I, held in Badr Prison
The detention of Ahmed Sirag has continued for 2 days, after the Supreme State Security Prosecution had issued an explicit decision to release him, which constitutes a legal violation, clearly revealing how the implementation of judicial decisions is now under the purview of the National Security Agency, rather than under the authority of the prosecution or a natural judge.
This pattern of procrastination and procedural deviation cannot be considered an incidental “administrative delay,” but rather a systematic practice used to circumvent release orders and to keep citizens arbitrarily detained, despite the expiry of their legal detention.
What is happening here is not only a violation of a person’s freedom, but undermines the foundation of justice, transforms the prosecution and judiciary into mere facades, and undermines confidence in the law and the constitution as well.
