Sherif Gamal after completing the procedures for the validity of his release by the Zagazig Criminal Court.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">The security forces at 10th of Ramadan Police Station-III in Sharqia released Amr Abdel Qader Al-Husseini\u00a0 after completing the procedures for the validity of his release by the Zagazig Criminal Court.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">The security forces at Hahia Police Station in Sharqia released Muhammad Ahmed Al-Badri after completing the procedures for the validity of his release by the Zagazig Criminal Court.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>6- Trials:<\/p>\n<p><i>Tuesday, 19 March<\/i><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Cairo Criminal Court, Terrorism Chamber \u2013I, held in Badr Prison postponed the retrial of 3 defendants in the case known in the media as 5th Settlement ISIS case to the session on 1 June 2024.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>Wednesday, 23 March<\/i><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Cairo Criminal Court, Terrorism Chamber-III, held in Badr Prison postponed the trail of 35 defendants, in the case known in the media as the Foreign Currency Cell case to the session on 11 May 2024.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>Sunday, 22 March<\/i><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Cairo Criminal Court, Terrorism Chamber-III, held in Badr Prison postponed the trail of 19 defendants, in the case known in the media as Marg 3rd cell case to the session on 12 May 2024.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>7- Actions of the Public Prosecution and Investigative Judges:<\/p>\n<p><i>Wednesday, 20 March<\/i><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">The investigative judge the Ministry of Justice had assigned to investigate the case known in the media as the case of shutting off the civil society issued a decision for filing a criminal case due to insufficient evidence against 5 independent human rights organizations.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The decision included removing the names of those in both the travel ban list and the list preventing them from disposing of their fixed and movable assets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Legal Comment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After 13 years of investigations in Case No. 173 of 2011, known in the media as the \u201cShutting off of the Civil Society\u201d case, the investigative judge the Ministry of Justice had assigned issued a decision for filing a criminal case due to insufficient evidence against 5 independent human rights organizations.<\/p>\n<p>The decision included removing the names of those in both the travel ban list and the list preventing them from disposing of their fixed and movable assets.<\/p>\n<p>The organisations are The Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights (EIPR), The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (ANHRI), the Arab Penal Reform Organization (APRO), and Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies (CIHRS), and El-Nadeem against Violence and Torture Organization.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The decision by investigative judge decision was based on the insufficient evidence provided by those institutions to refer them to criminal trials<\/p>\n<p>This decision brings down the curtain on one of the cases that was full of many violations, whether insult and defamation, or the absence of justice in investigations, and the fabrication of investigations by the National Security Service sector.<\/p>\n<p>The decision brings 13 years of fabrication and falsification of facts towards those human rights institutions to light, which resulted in a number of those institutions suspending their activities within Egypt.<\/p>\n<p>A number of workers from the Mahalla Spinning Company used their constitutional right to organize a strike to demand the implementation of the decision and raise their salaries to the minimum wage.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of starting a dialogue with the striking workers, the security services arrested and forcibly disappeared some of them.<\/p>\n<p>Then two workers appeared inside the Supreme State Security Prosecution, being accused of joining a terrorist group and committing a financing and logistics crime, and they were detained pending investigations in Case No. 717 of 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Summary: Case 173 \u201cCivil Society Case\u201d closes after 13 years.
