The Public Prosecution Office published a statement on its official page on the social networking site Facebook about its decision to conduct investigations into the incident of the Cairo Governorate services building fire in May 15th City.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Legal Comment<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

– The ongoing trials to which hundreds of citizens are subjected before the various circles of terrorism, whether in Cairo or in the various governorates within the Arab Republic of Egypt lacks the constitutional legitimacy, as well as the lack of the most basic rules of fair and just trials for citizens in many trials.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a> – Decisions to renew the detention of hundreds of citizens continued to be issued by terrorism circles in criminal courts held inside reform and rehabilitation centers, without regard to the constitutional principle of protecting the personal freedom of citizens, and without regard to the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code, which sets a maximum limit for pretrial detention decisions under Article 143 thereof and limits it by 24 months. This necessitated the authorities competent to investigate criminal matters to issue a decision to release anyone whose pretrial detention exceeds two years. However, by following up on the detention renewal sessions throughout the week, the Cairo Criminal Court renewed the detention of journalist Mustafa Al-Khatib, despite the fact that his pre-trial detention exceeded the three-year period, as well as the renewal of the detention of the publisher Ismail El-Kamary, who also exceeded the maximum limit of pre-trial detention.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
