2. 1. Poet Galal al-Beheiri, imprisoned in Badr Prison pending several trials, announced a hunger strike after being denied access to paper and pens.

Saturday, 11 July

2. Rofida Hamdy, the wife of activist Mohamed Adel, posted a plea for help on her Facebook page after visiting her husband in prison on 6 July, where he had informed her of beginng an open-ended hunger strike and expressed his intention to commit suicide, as he put it, due to the harassment he was subjected to, his continued imprisonment for over 12 years, and his ongoing denial of exercise and access to his cell following an assault on him on 10 January 2026.

3. The family of director and novelist Omar Marei, who was being held in pretrial detention in connection with Case No. [number missing], announced that one of his cellmates, who held extremist and hostile views towards art and artists, had assaulted him.

4. Dr. Amr Heikal, who has been held in pretrial detention with his wife since 2020 in connection with case No. 65 of 2020, Supreme State Security, died inside his cell in the 10^th of Ramadan prison. His family was notified to receive the body from the prison and bury him at dawn.
