The Supreme State Security Prosecution, during the coverage period of the bulletin from June 16 to June 22, 2023, investigated 28 citizens on charges of joining a terrorist group and financing and supplying a terrorist group.

Monday, June 19, 2023
1. The Terrorism Department of the Zagazig Misdemeanor Court of Appeal decided to cancel the prison sentence issued against 8 citizens from the Zagazig Center and acquitted them on the grounds of accusing them of publishing and broadcasting false news and statements. It also decided to cancel the prison sentence issued against 3 citizens from Belbeis Center and to acquit them from accusation of publishing and broadcasting false news and statements.
2. The Terrorism Department in the Belbeis Misdemeanor Court acquitted 13 citizens and punished two others with one year in prison and a fine of 500 pounds on the grounds of accusing them of promoting the purposes of a terrorist group and spreading false news and statements.
Tuesday 20 June
The Terrorism Department of the Hihya Misdemeanor Court in Al Sharkia Governorate sentenced three citizens to three months in prison, on the grounds that they were accused of publishing false news and statements.

Legal Comment
– In a clear example of the arbitrary use of pretrial detention and its use as a tool to harass opponents, the First Chamber of Terrorism in the Cairo Criminal Court issued a decision to continue the detention of the activist and former spokesperson for the April 6 Youth Movement – the Democratic Front, Sherif El-Rouby, along with hundreds of citizens, for a period of 45 days pending terrorism cases. “Al-Rouby” during his detention renewal session through “video conference” technology in
Case No. 1634 of 2022, Supreme State Security, appeared in poor health, which prompted the court to quickly issue a decision to bring him to Abu Zaabal Prison Hospital instead of issuing a decision to release him despite the availability of all the conditions for his release.
– Minister of Planning and Economic Development Decision No. 46 of 2023 came to specify the value of the minimum wage, starting from the fiscal year 1 July 2023, for workers in the private sector, at a value of three thousand pounds, calculated on the basis of the wage stipulated in Clause (C) of Article (1) of the Labor Law, which states, “In the application of the provisions of this law, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated opposite each of them: a)………., b) ………., c) Wages: every fixed amount that the worker receives in return for his work, whether or not it was a change in cash or in kind. This is a positive step in light of the economic crisis facing all segments of the Egyptian people, but it remains a step that must be followed by many steps, on top of which is stopping the continuous increases in the prices of goods and services.
